This couple are a progression of my work based on the Bartmann/Bellamine jugs of the 16th Century in Germany, they were also called Wild Man of the Wood and I have glazed my vessels like the bark of silver birch trees. There is a nod to being human; the moustache for the man and a…
Category: Figurative Pots
This is a collection of figurative pots, inspired by a collection of glass bottles seen in a shed in Cornwall. They are made from a variety of materials, from crank to porcelain and are all different sizes. They can work as individual pieces but are meant to be in family groupings.
Shortlisted for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2021
My Wild Man of the Woods has been shortlisted by Yinka Shonibare RA for this year’s Summer Exhibition running from 22nd September – 2nd January 2022. Thrilled to pieces. This work is based on the Bartmann jugs of 15-16th Germany to pour beer. I have used a licheny glaze to make it look old and…
Bill and Ben
Do you remember Bill and Ben the flower pot men. These two are my version of them.
In conversation (Sold)
Two mid sized barium glazed pots, in conversation.
The family
These pieces are a family. They were all made on the same day and have al been glazed using white as the base colour. The leopard spot glaze is working well and I like the way the glazes overlap to make interesting colours. These will be on show at Candid Arts, 3 – 5 Torrens…
The Fencer
This tiny piece is about 5 centimetres tall but is ready to fence. I have used blue slip and then turquoise glaze over the top.

Paperclay figurative pots
So these are made from paper clay as I broke my thumb (don’t ask) and can’t use the wheel. I have used a couple of textured moulds taken from cardboard and the one on the left is just black slip with my Waller white glaze on top. I love this speckled effect. Hope you like…
Small ecclesiastical pots
These pots have been thrown on the wheel and are part of the figurative pots project. I have made a number of different glazes but am particularly pleased with the deep red which doesn’t normally happen in an electric kiln, a happy accident, as is so often the case in pottery.
