BRITISH ICONIC BRANDS MEETS POP ART

‘Ode to Kitsch and Pop Art’ was exhibited in Grayson Perry’s Room of Fun in the 250th Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 2018.

It is made from stoneware and the pieces are all thrown on the wheel and altered. The Ooze plate is slab built and thrown on the floor to spread it out, the maker’s marks are apparent on this piece.

‘Love it!’ is one from a series of different sized Marmite jars. They are made from stoneware and are thrown and altered on the wheel.

‘Brexit Means Brexit’ was made as a social comment after referendum on Brexit in 2016.  I took Theresa May’s comment and married it with the popular Baked Bean slogan.

These have sold to a number of collectors and were seen in Christie’s in 2023 as part of the Georgina Djanogly’s Orchard Collection.  See below.

‘One Bottle lasts longer…’ was made in October 2022 when Liz Truss had just lasted 44 days as Prime Minister, I heard someone say this and I thought it would be fun to put on a piece.

It is thrown on the wheel and altered, it has a mother of pearl lustre to make it shiny like a plastic bottle.
