Guardians of the Woodland

These two pieces are part inspired by my work on the Bartmann/Bellamine jugs of the 16th century in Germany.
Inspired by walking on Wimbledon common I have made the glaze like the bark of the silver birch tree.

This couple are a progression of my work based on the Bartmann/Bellamine jugs of the 16th Century in Germany, they were also called Wild Man of the Wood and I have glazed my vessels like the bark of silver birch trees. There is a nod to being human; the moustache for the man and a small cut in the hat for the woman. They are a regal couple and are guardians of the woodland, keeping it safe in these times of climate change.
